The cultivation of Wheat began in the Fertile Crescent more than 10,000 years ago. It later arrived in the UK 5,000 years ago. Milling wheat for consuming it in the form of flour became ordinary in the 12th century. By the 19th century, Wheat was the UK’s most significant crop grown for human consumption.
Wheat grain is used for many purposes but mainly for foods. Apart from that, wheat is used for fermentation to make beer, some other alcoholic beverages, and for making biofuel. The crop is also used as livestock feed, and its straw is used as a construction material.
